Cuba: Subsidized potatoes dropped from ration book
The government has eliminated potatoes from the subsidized basket of
food purchased under the ration card in the capital.
Before the change, effective Nov. 1, residents could buy four pounds of
subsidized potatoes. Now, they cost 150 percent more than they did before.
The government has given signs that it would like to eventually
eliminate the ration card.
